Tesla has joined the caravan of companies recalling thousands of vehicles with software bugs. In the latest statement from Tesla, more than 2 million models will be recalled due to some problems in the driver assistance system. This decision came after the US found that the autopilot system was inadequate.

As part of the recall, Tesla will have to fix more than 2 million vehicles. However, this process will not be carried out by visiting Tesla dealers. Models produced since 2012 and equipped with autopilot will be fixed through a software update.

According to the automobile giant’s statement, the update will increase the driver’s participation during autonomous driving with visual warnings. In addition, Autosteer, one of the important features of autopilot, will be enabled by default.

With the new update, autopilot will only be used as an “auxiliary driving support”. In other words, drivers behind the wheel will focus on the road and the autopilot will not replace people.

Let us explain that the recall in the USA does not affect the models in our country. However, it should not be forgotten that Tesla may send the software update to different countries and thus may want to increase driver participation.

Tesla disagreed with the assessments that the US autonomous driving monitoring was insufficient. In this regard, the company stated that it will conduct a recall to finalize the investigation. With the update of vehicles produced since 2012, safety will be increased.
